Begin your Cuyuna winter adventures with  winter equipment rentals from our friends at Cykel (pronounced syɡ̊əl, it’s Swedish for cycle)!

Only three blocks from the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area on Curtis Ave in Ironton, Cykel offers winter fat bike rentals, as well as snowshoe rentals in a variety of sizes (including children’s). Snowshoeing on the mountain bike trails is highly encouraged, as it grooms the trails for an optimal fat biking experience. (We have a great beginner snowshoe route to get you started!)

For a unique, backcountry skiing experience, check out their Altai Hok ski rentals. These trail-friendly skis are shorter and wider than cross-country skis, and  feature a base made up of tiny synthetic hairs that make it easier to climb and traverse ungroomed trails. No poles are needed, but they are available if you’d like them. Don’t want to climb? No problem. Hok skis are all-terrain, so you can use it anywhere with snow—including the snow-covered paved Cuyuna Lakes State Trail.

As a full-service bike shop, Cykel also offers maintenance and repair services for any and all bikes, year-round.
