Coffee

Kava is the Croation word for coffee and taps into owner Johnna’s heritage and background as a fourth-generation Iron Ranger. This eclectic Crosby MN restaurant, Mixed Company, is all about gathering community and savoring the company of others around good coffee and tasty food—and even a cribbage game or two.

Coffees, teas, and smoothies (even matcha tea/smoothies) all come in three sizes with a variety of flavors and flavor or espresso shot options. From standard brewed coffee to a sea salt caramel latte, you’ll find it at Mixed Company—even a little something tasty to go with it.

Cuyuna Brewing - Locally Crafted Beer

Cuyuna Brewing Company is craft beer, brewed right onsite. If you like MN breweries, our locally-crafted beer doesn’t get any fresher than this. Nick and Laura were attracted to Cuyuna’s strong, supportive community for their craft brewery and built it in the historic Young Building.

Cuyuna Brewing has seven flagship brews ranging from IPA to red and pale ale, Festbier lager, coffee chocolate milk stout, Belgian-style blonde ale, and Bavarian Hefeweizen. There are several, seasonal and limited-edition beers as well. Growler fills are available. They also serve hard root beer—as well as non-alcoholic root beer, kombucha, and Italian sodas.

Kick back in their spacious taproom and enjoy a cold one after a day on the Cuyuna mountain bike trails.

Spalding Pub is known for its cycling-savvy taps. With their long list of craft beer from MN breweries on tap, you’re sure to find your favorite. The Spalding is more of a locals’ hangout, but there is a cool mountain bike behind the tap beer selection, where you’ll generally find a beer not common at the other local Cuyuna establishments. They also have daily specials, pizza, drawings, happy hour, meat raffles, karaoke, and more. We suggest visiting prior to 10 p.m.—it’s best that you’re back to your tent by then anyway. The Spalding also has an off-sale liquor store and offers weekend shuttle bus service: (218) 330-6027.

The Spalding is located in one of Crosby’s historic buildings—formerly the Spalding Hotel. They still offer lodging today, with newly remodeled hostel-style rooms upstairs. Kudos and many thanks to Chris and Nadine Albrecht for completely remodeling the Spalding House! What you see today is a completely new experience from what it was just a few, short years ago.

Woodtick Inn’s claim to fame is, well, woodticks. They host the annual woodtick races the second Saturday in June and you really have to see it to believe it. Racing live woodticks for money, you can’t make this stuff up. You’ll also find a good craft beer selection with 20 choices on tap. Games, pool, plus team trivia and meat raffles. There’s lots of fun to be found in Cuyuna—you just need to know where to look. And now you do.
