Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge

25039 Tame Fish Lake Road, Deerwood, MN 56444
Hwy. 6 from Crosby to Ruttger’s on Bay Lake—9.3 miles

Open in the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons.

Located on beautiful Bay Lake, a 15 minute drive south of Crosby, Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge lays claim to many firsts. It was the first resort in Minnesota, started in 1898 by German pioneers, Joseph and Josephine Ruttger who opened their home and dinner table to host traveling fisher people. Ruttger’s also became Minnesota’s first resort golf course in 1921 and it is also the only full-scale resort in the Cuyuna area. It has all the resort amenities (fishing, dining, various types of lodging, spa, golf—even pickleball), yet it maintains its comfortable, turn-of-the-century, going-to-the-lake feel.

Open in the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons.

A friend to Cuyuna, Madden’s on Gull Lake. It’s not adjacent to Cuyuna, but it’s one of those magical places that’s worth talking about on the Brainerd side of Crow Wing County. The resort encompasses both sides of the Pine Beach Peninsula and it’s like a complete town with many different types of lodging and recreation, plus six restaurants—from fine dining and family style, to quick bites or meal plan options. If you are looking for a day trip, or a new experience for food or lodging, check out Madden’s!
