This nearly 70 mile gravel and pavement ride loop takes you throughout the Cuyuna Hills and the Gravel Alps of Aitkin County (as the locals call them). You’ll experience approximately 60% gravel, 40% pavement throughout.

This extended route builds upon the first 40 mile route by adding even more sweet Aitkin County Gravel Alps!

It’s recommended to cycle this route in the morning in good light, as your chance of seeing nature awake as you quietly pass by is very high. From eagles, swans, and great blue herons, to deer—unending deer—you’ll see the best of Cuyuna outside of the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area.

Depending on your biking speed, this could be a few hours, or a full day experience.

There is a gas station, the Farm Island Store, about 50 or so miles into the ride.

Parking, food, and beverage are available on-street within the City of Cuyuna adjacent to the Woodtick Inn. Please do not park in the Woodtick Inn’s parking lot during your ride as we want to keep that space open for their customers.

(LOCAL TIP: Don’t worry about Deerwood being part of the Woodtick Inn’s address. The City of Cuyuna doesn’t have a post office, so Deerwood is the city for the sake of driving directions and postal mail carriers.)

Another place to park while in the City of Cuyuna is just up the road at the City of Cuyuna Mountain Bike Park and Campground (also known as the Pumptrack).
