If the Cuyuna region has a Mountain Lodge, airbnb.com is the place. Located nine miles north of the mountain bike and paved trail tunnel/underpass on HWY 6 North of Crosby, The River Lodge stands alone in our region for large group gatherings.
As you approach the Lodge from the west, you’ll immediately see its reclaimed wood and gorgeous, exterior color situated perfectly on five acres on the Mississippi River. It’s pretty easy to say the Lodge has more character per square inch than anywhere we’ve stayed in our mountain bike travels. Your first step inside the door, you’ll see what we mean.
And, it’s all adjacent to the world’s river, the Mighty Mississippi River. If you are planning to kayak from The River Lodge, you can get picked up at the HWY 6 Bridge, the Harvey Drake Landing (on the Pine River), the Trommald Landing, or the Little Rabbit Lake Landing. The only challenging aspect (outside of paddling that stretch of water with its current) will be getting into the river itself. Currently, The River Lodge does not feature a dock, as river docks are not budget friendly, due to the engineering needed to withstand a river’s currents. The River Lodge owners, Joy and Andrew, have told us there is a path to the river, and as always, safety first when on a river!
In summary, The River Lodge proudly features three floors of wow. If you are bringing a large group to Cuyuna, seriously consider The River Lodge. From our point of view, fall and winter adventures would be second-to-none, based on mountain-like lodging of this quality.
