Climb the 22 steps to the second floor of the 110-year-old First National Bank Building in downtown Crosby and you’ll find The Bike Vault, a thematic lodging experience you won’t find anywhere else in Cuyuna.

The Bike Vault goes all-in with an eclectic mix of bike memorabilia and Minnesota culture. The owners, Jay and Deb, handpicked every piece of art, book, and detail—including the six vintage bikes hanging on the walls. (They also built the hand-cut black walnut table in the dining area!) Just take a walk through the space and look around. You’ll uncover subtle nods to both the history of cycling and the region’s roots. We guarantee that you’ll learn something about Cuyuna or cycling just by perusing the décor. Seriously, there is so much to look at you’ll need to come back at least three times to see it all.

What was once the bank President and Vice President’s offices is now a modern loft that features a full kitchen, dining area, lounge area, a full bath, a half-bath, and three themed bedrooms (Map, Tandem, and Gear). Each room is its own experience tastefully decorated to the hilt with interesting history and fun cycling-related décor—from old newspaper clippings and the original plat of the city of Cuyuna to punchy signs and local artwork. All rooms include queen beds, linens and towels, and vanities complete with mirrors and hair dryers. The entire loft is clean and fur-free (there is a strict No Pet Policy).

The lounge area, a dedicated bike library, is the perfect spot to kick up your feet after a day on the trails. The spacious dining area is also a fun hangout spot, where you can tap into the complimentary WIFI to stream your favorite music and shows on the wall-mounted 75” TV. The adjacent, full kitchen includes a commercial-sized refrigerator, portable stovetop, and euro-style oven. But don’t feel like you have to cook—The Bike Vault’s primo Main Street location puts you within walking distance of restaurants, cocktails, and brews (as well as a quick and easy ride out to the trails).

Don’t worry about where you’re going to put your bike—there is plenty of room. The old bank vault has space for six bikes and gear, and there is a dedicated work stand should you need to make repairs during your stay. While the vault door itself doesn’t lock, the vestibule outside the vault is accessible only by keypad, providing a safe and secure storage area for all of your valuables. (For extra security, you can easily secure your bikes to the existing bike stands located inside the vault, too.)

The Bike Vault is not your average Cuyuna accommodation—it is a vibrant museum filled with cycling nostalgia that will keep you entertained for days. Book your stay at The Bike Vault for an experience you won’t forget.
